The whole idea of thailand-cheap is to encourage you to compare prices and alternatives, for example, mid to top end hotels can charge around $150 Australian upwards for the night, where as I will point you to places that charge around $50 Australian, and you know, there really is not a lot of difference. Same as eating out, you could pay $20 for a great meal at a top restaurant, well that same meal only costs me about $5.If you know where to go and how to get there, you could be saving a lot of money and hassle.
