Sananwan Palace Bangphli, a cheap alternative to Bangkok.
Sananwan Palace Bangphli is the place to stay, why, you may well ask. Well visiting Thailand quite often and having to spend quite a lot of time in Bangkok can have a few problems.Cheap, good accommodation can be hard to find, then there is the traffic and the fumes that go with it.Bangkok is a fast and wild city, and sometimes it's just nice to be able to relax without all the madness and of course the higher prices.
For me, when I have to be in or near Bangkok I choose to stay at the Sananwan Palace Bangphli. Now I can tell you that this complex is well worth a visit. It is a very clean, comfortable, friendly place with extremely helpful staff.Food served here is fresh, tasty and cheap. It is an ideal spot if your heading out to Cambodia overland. It has a lovely swimming pool and a gymnasium. The rooms here start as little as 250 baht for a fan room and 450 for air-con.Only 30 minutes from the new airport. Bang Phli, the home of the Lotus Flower Receiving Festival which is held every year during the time of the full moon in October. This is when a boat carrying a replica of a Buddha from the temple Wat Bang Phli passes up and down the main canal. Both sides of the canal are lined with thousands of people that throw Lotus flowers onto the boat.It is an amazing sight. The temple itself is well worth a visit and along side the temple is the 175 year old market which is fascinating.
Getting into Bangkok and surrounds is very easy, all I do is take a cab to the On Nut sky train station and then you can access anywhere in the city as usual.Nine stops and your in central station quite quickly. BangPhli is a mostly residential suburb on the south eastern edge of Bangkok. It is located in Samut Prakarn, the adjoining province to Bangkok, directly south via Sukhumvhit Road or the SkyTrain. Here are some things to see and do. - floating markets- Ancient City Replica- Crocodile Farm & dinosaur museum- Bang Phu Nature Reserve- Red Cross Gardens and Aquaria- Royal temple Wat Klang Worawihan- Erawan Museum- Nong Ngu Hao Snake Farm- Bueng Tako water sports center- Naval History Park So my advice, next time you want to spend some time in Bangkok, give the Sananwan Palace Bangphli a go, you will not regret it.Just tell them that Jim from Australia told you about it.
