Krabi, the gateway to fantastic islands and beautiful beaches.

Krabi is situated in Southern Thailand on the West coast. It is a very popular spot for tourists as from here you can access many beautiful islands and beaches.

Krabi Southern Thailand Getting there.

Sadly the train from KL through Malaysia does not take you to Krabi, it stops at Hat Yai in Southern Thailand and then on to Surat Thani and on up to Bangkok. So from Hat Yai the best way to get here is by mini van from the van terminal.Cost is around 200 Baht and takes about 4 hours.

Hat Yai van terminal If your coming from Bangkok, you will have to leave the train at Surat Thani and get a mini van from there about the same price and time.

However, there is an international airport here and Airasia offer some really good deals if your flexible with your travel plan.

Both journeys through lovely countryside.

Krabi longtail boats Down by the water front there are plenty of boats that will offer you trips around the mangroves and caves. They will try to charge you 400 Baht for the one hour trip, haggle hard to about 250.

This is a great place to rest up for a while.Plenty to see and do for a few days. I prefer to get on down to the beach area at Ao Nang.

From town a local open backed bus will take you there for 60 Baht and takes about half hour.

The ever popular Ao Nang is a great place to stay, here is a great article that helps describe this popular spot.

There are plenty of shops in town and a great weekly market.

There are plenty of accommodation options here starting from about 150 Baht upwards.

Getting around town is easy with plenty of taxis, buses and motorbike taxis.

This is a fantastic area for taking beautiful pictures and a good camera is worth having. This one I am recommending.
