If Your Looking For a Good Chiang-Mai guesthouse, Try The Lai-Thai
After spending a week or so in very cheap accommodation,I decided to look for a Chiang-Mai guesthouse. I felt like staying somewhere nice for a few days. As I got off the train from Bangkok, I was swamped again by taxi drivers all begging to win my fare. Not sure about you but I like to just sit down for five minutes, have a smoke and get my bearings and not jump straight in the first taxi that comes to me. I could see all the other train passengers jumping in the taxis, And by the time I had finished my smoke nearly all the rides had gone. Well then the last cab on the rank (so to speak) came up to me and offered to take me into town. He was a decent guy, not pushy, and offered to take me to a guesthouse. I said ok and he dropped me off at the Lai-Thai guesthouse. I am glad I took his advice as it turned out to be a really nice place.
My room was the first on the left overlooking the lovely pool.These rooms are all typical Thai style wooden cabins, lots of timber, bamboo and carvings. They are air conditioned, with private on suite hot and cold shower and toilet. Mini bar, cable and satellite tv and telephone. I found the room to be very comfortable. This Chiang-Mai guesthouse is on the eastern side of Thapae Gate in the center of the city. There are many choices for accommodation in Chiang-Mai, but this place is well worth a stay.

It has the added bonus of a clean sparkling pool to cool off during the afternoon heat.The restaurant here is very good, serving continental breakfast for 80 Baht, or American for 130 Baht. All my meals were delicious and cheap. Its well placed with the airport and train station about fifteen minutes away and about five minutes to the night bazaar. The desk is 24 hours and there is also a tour desk should you need. Rooms start at 650 Baht low season. I certainly enjoyed my stay at the
Lai-Thai guest house.
